Puerto Morelos, Mexico -(November 2013) Viva la Ribis!!! Joe and I got married on the beach surrounded by friends and family- it was magical and perfect. I knew I wanted a destination wedding and force everyone to take a vacation with me but I had no idea where to begin planning it. Joe and I had never been on an all-inclusive vacation cause we love to move and explore so we had lots of questions for Melissa and our friends and family- I knew I wanted somewhere super small- where I could get from my room to the beach in less than 5 mins- I wanted wood thatched roofs, easy planning for excursions and a swim up pool party! I also learned from friends food sometimes is not the best and restaurants close during certain hours- so we found a place where you can get good food 24 hours a day and restaurants not close during the day- Melissa found the perfect place and it even had a tequila lounge! All my guest were to book and ask her any questions- it made it so I was able to plan a wedding and she helped my friends and family book rooms and flights – she was amazing! And she was free! The resort payed her fees ✨
Joe and I booked for 7 days and guest booked from 3-7 days – we had a welcome party where everyone got welcome bags and got to meet- then the next day we headed to Tulum to see the ruins- we came back and hosted a dinner for our immediate family and ended with a bonfire on the beach with smores and desserts for everyone!
Wedding day!!! Then we had a beautiful ceremony on the beach- our dinner and dancing was also on the beach- I had options of all or part of it being inside but I wanted it all outside under the stars and moon with our bare feet in the sand- it was magical
Dance party was wild!!! It was lightening a bit so the storm would light up the sky! It was so fun
When we returned to our room to change our clothes- I came home to a rose petal hot bath- I walked to the bath while taking my dress off and slipped right in- the water temperature was perfect- how did they do that?! How did they know?! And it was the right amount of bubbles that right when i got in we had a knock on our door and friends came to hang out in our room while I sat in the tub- it was perfection
Next day we had a rest day while others went to zipline – I just wanted a beach day and to hang with friends and family – what better way to do it then beach cabanas with full service!!!
Then we headed to Chichen Itza and Ik Kil Cenote for a full day adventure – we booked this through the hotel but i would do something more private next time- we had to pick up a lot of other hotel guests- we were the first pick up and last drop off which made for a long day. But it was worth it
The last day we ended with a family dinner and a fire show on the beach- it was so fun and I would not have changed a thing! Here is a video of our wedding https://youtu.be/UmM4UIAKARA
I recently in 2021 went to look at what Azul Beach Hotel looks like now and they have definitely expanded it a lot- I didn’t even recognize it- it is huge now and doesn’t seem like the same vibe at all- grateful we got in when we did
